Captain Joshua Davenport is a fallen man who takes a Captain's assignment on the slave ship, Retemed. He abhors the practice, but needs the job to get his life back in order. But during the voyage, someone is killing the slaves and crew, draining their blood and decapitating them. Captain Davenport suspects he has a murderer onboard, but soon realizes the truth is much worse.
